What do Anthony Burgess and Dr. Seuss have in common? Aside from the fact that they’re both playful with their language both are authors of books that have been challenged or banned. (Dr. Seuss for both The Lorax and Yertle the Turtle; and Anthony Burgess for A Clockwork Orange, a book so intense it can make milk seem sinister.)
This week marks the 30th anniversary of Freedom to Read in Canada and today would have been Anthony Burgess’ 97th birthday. (Happy Birthday!) It’s a kind of 
serendipity that these two events are taking place at the same time this year.
